Pitching against the Louisville Bats, Schilling allowed two hits, struck out six, walked none, and threw 32 of his 40 pitches for strikes. He hit 94 m.p.h. on the radar gun.

Schilling, who went on the 15-day disabled list on June 22, is rehabilitating his right shoulder.

Pitcher Scott Olsen of the Florida Marlins was arrested early yesterday after refusing to pull over in his car, then getting into a fight with police officers in Aventura, Fla.

Olsen was booked into the Miami-Dade county jail on charges of driving under the influence, resisting an officer with violence, and fleeing and eluding a police officer. He was released on $11,000 bond.

The St. Louis Cardinals bought the contract of catcher Gerard Haran, a 2007 graduate of the College of New Jersey, from the St. George Roadrunners of the independent Golden Baseball League based in California. Haran will report to the Cardinals' rookie-league team in the Gulf Coast League.

The New York Yankees acquired catcher Jose Molina from the Los Angeles Angels for minor-league reliever Jeff Kennard.
