Phillies and third baseman Kevin Frandsen agree to new contract

    The Phillies have agreed to a new one-year contract with third baseman Kevin Frandsen worth $850,000, the team announced on Tuesday. As a result of the deal, the two sides will avoid salary arbitration.

    Frandsen's contract includes incentives and performance bonuses. 

    He recorded a .338 batting average with 10 doubles, 14 RBI and a .383 on-base percentage in 55 games last year. In addition to his time in the majors, Frandsen played 99 games for triple-A Lehigh Valley this year.

    The Phillies now have two players left who are eligible for arbitration: pitcher Antonio Bastardo and outfielder Nate Schierholtz.
