A five-run third inning, led by right fielder Peter Lavin (3-for-5 with two runs scored, a strikeout and a caught stealing) and shortstop KC Serna (3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base), powered the victory.

Right-handed starter Severino Gonzalez (5-9, 4.71 ERA) got back into the win column with a strong eight-inning effort, his longest of the season. It was Gonzalez's first win since May 17, a span of nine starts. He allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Center fielder Aaron Altherr knocked in two runs to help the cause.

The Fightin Phils (35-50), losers of 17 of their last 19 games, will host the Trenton Thunder for a four-game series. Southpaw Hoby Milner (5-4, 4.07 ERA) is slated to start the opener on Monday.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

Play was suspended in the third inning as the Threshers led the Brevard County Manatees, 2-0, at Space Coast Stadium in Melbourne, Fla.

Making his first rehab start, Phillies lefty Cliff Lee threw two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out two.
