Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
The IronPigs were doubled up by the Louisville Bats, 6-3, at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.
Newly-demoted left fielder Darin Ruf didn't last long and was removed in the top of the first inning after colliding with the left field wall. The Express-Times' Greg Joyce, who covers the IronPigs, has more on the injury:
Right-handed starter Chris Bootcheck (2-1, 2.37 ERA) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks over seven innings.
Shortstop Tyler Henson (3-for-5 with a strikeout) and third baseman Maikel Franco (1-for-5 with two RBI) fueled the offense.
The IronPigs fell to 30-29 on the season. Southpaw Greg Smith (4-3, 3.96 ERA) takes the hill as the series continues Wednesday.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
The Fightin Phils came one out shy of recording a no-hitter in a 5-1 victory over the Harrisburg Senators at Metro Bank Park in Harrisburg, Pa.
Left-handed starter Hoby Milner (4-2, 3.52 ERA) picked up the win after surrendering only a walk in five no-hit innings. He struck out six.
Righty Ryan O'Sullivan allowed a run, but didn't allow a hit or a walk in three innings to keep the no-hitter alive.
With two outs in the ninth, righty Kyle Simon gave up an infield single to end the no-hit bid.
Second baseman Carlos Alonso provided most the damage on offense, finishing 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI.
The win lifted the Fightin Phils to 30-25. Reading will turn to righty Perci Garner (4-3, 3.86 ERA) as the series continues Wednesday.
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers were rocked by the Bradenton Marauders, 7-1, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.
Right-handed starter Jeb Stefan (2-6, 6.13 ERA) was unable to get through the first inning to take the loss. He was tagged for seven runs on six hits and a walk in just 2/3 innings.
The offense could only scrape together four hits in the loss and only one for extra bases. Left fielder Brandon Short had a double in four at bats.
The Threshers dropped to 12-45 on the season. Next up for Clearwater is a four-game road series with the Palm Beach Cardinals. Righty Miguel Nunez (2-3, 5.67 ERA) is slated to start the series opener on Wednesday.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
The BlueClaws topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 8-4, at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood Township, N.J. The teams were scheduled for a doubleheader, but the second game was postponed due to rain.
The offense seized a four-run lead in the first inning and the team cruised to victory.
Second baseman Andrew Pullin (2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored and four RBI) and designated hitter Andrew Knapp (2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, three RBI and two strikeouts) starred at the plate for Lakewood.
Right-handed starter Drew Anderson (4-4, 3.56 ERA) took the win. Anderson was charged with two runs on seven hits while striking out five over six innings of work.
The BlueClaws improved to 21-35. The teams will attempt a doubleheader again on Wednesday.
