Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A
The IronPigs rallied past the Gwinnett Braves, 4-2, for a series split at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa.
Right-handed starter Jonathan Pettibone gave up two runs in the first inning, but that's all the Lehigh Valley pitching staff would allow in the win. Pettibone surrendered five hits over five innings.
Relievers Ethan Martin, Phillippe Aumont, Ken Giles and Justin DeFratus all recorded a scoreless inning.
Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, second baseman Tyler Henson singled and scored on left fielder Darin Ruf's sacrifice fly to cut the lead in half.
The IronPigs used a three-run eighth to seize the lead. After loading the bases, first baseman Jim Murphy's RBI single, catcher Koyie Hill's walk and right fielder Steve Susdorf's sacrifice fly put Lehigh Valley up for good.
Ruf finished 1-for-2 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk in his first game of the season with the team.
The win lifted the IronPigs above .500 at 19-18. A four-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will begin Tuesday that will complete Lehigh Valley's home stand. Righty David Buchanan (4-0, 3.12 ERA) will start the opener.
Reading Fightin Phils – Double A
The Fightin Phils edged the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 3-2, at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester N.H.
Left-handed starter Hoby Milner (2-2, 4.64 ERA) spotted the Fisher Cats a 2-0 lead, but delivered a strong outing to earn the victory. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over seven innings. The two runs were the result of a home run.
In the third inning, first baseman Brock Stassi hit his second home run of the season, a two-run blast, to tie the game at two apiece.
The game-winning run was pushed across in the sixth as center fielder Zach Collier reached on a one-out single and scored on second baseman Albert Cartwright's two-out double.
Both Stassi and Cartwright went to 2-for-4 in the game.
The Fightin Phils climbed back to .500 at 17-17. The series continues Tuesday as Reading hands the ball to right Perci Garner (3-2, 3.55 ERA).
Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced
The Threshers lost to the Jupiter Hammerheads, 3-1, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.
Right-handed starter Colin Kleven (1-4, 5.63 ERA) gave up all of Jupiter's runs in the first inning. He allowed eight hits in seven innings for the loss.
Left fielder Willie Carmona singled home designated hitter Andrew Knapp in the seventh for Clearwater's lone run.
Shortstop Angelo Mora (2-for-4) and Knapp (2-for-4 with a run scored and two strikeouts) had multi-hit games.
The Threshers sunk to 8-26 on the season. Righty Brody Colvin (0-2, 9.00 ERA) will take his turn in the rotation for Clearwater when the series continues on Tuesday.
Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A
The BlueClaws were shut out by the Delmarva Shorebirds, 3-0, at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md.
Lakewood could only manage three baserunners in the loss: shortstop J.P. Crawford (1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two strikeouts) and left fielder Samuel Hiciano (1-for-3 with a double).
Righty Drew Anderson (1-3, 4.87 ERA) was stuck with the loss as he gave up one run on four hits, two hit batsman and two walks over six innings. Anderson punched out six batters.
The BlueClaws fell to 13-22. Lakewood will look for a series split in the series finale on Tuesday when righty Ranfi Casimiro (1-4, 8.39 ERA) takes the hill.
