Eagles-Giants key pregame stats to know

My weekly Eagles pre-game stat package to munch on while you wait for kickoff:

— The Giants have scored just one touchdown on 22 possessions in their first two games. The Eagles have scored four on 23.

— The Eagles have forced four turnovers and have scored 14 points off of them. They have four giveaways that opponents have turned into 17 points.

— Zach Ertz has been targeted 18 times in the first two games and has 13 receptions. Eleven of them have resulted in first downs. He is tied for the league lead in first-down receptions with Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.

— Thirteen of Carson Wentz's 18 passes to Ertz have traveled zero to 10 yards.

— The Eagles have converted seven of 13 third downs of 10 yards or more into first downs. Last year, they were 8-for-64 on third down-and-10 or more the entire season.

— The Eagles have scored on their first possession in both of their first two games. They scored a touchdown on their opening drive against the Redskins and a field goal on their first possession against the Chiefs. They have averaged 8.1 yards per play on their opening possession.

— Neither of the Eagles' first two opponents have scored on their opening possession. Last year, the Eagles allowed points on opening drives just four times in 16 games.

— The Eagles have used "11" personnel — 1 RB, 1TE, 3WRs — on 85 of 134 offensive plays (63.4 percent) in their first two games.

— The Eagles are averaging 9.70 yards to go on second down. That's the second-worst figure in the league. Only Buffalo is averaging more (9.82). Twenty-four of the Eagles' 40 second-down situations have been 10 yards or more. They already have been in 15 third-down situations of 8 yards or more. That computes to 120 for the season. Last year, they had 103, which was the third most in the league behind Cleveland and San Francisco.

— Wentz is 31st in the league in passing on second down. He has completed just 12 of 26 passes for 141 yards, no TDs, and one interception.

— He's ninth in passing on first down, completing 24 of 36 passes for 275 yards, two TDs, and no interceptions. He has a 108.0 passer rating on first down. Five of his eight sacks have been on first down.

— Wentz is ninth in the league in third-down passing. He's 15-for-23 for 224 yards, two TDs and one interception (107.9 rating) on third down. Fourteen of his 15 third-down completions have resulted in first downs. By comparison, just seven of Eli Manning's 16 third-down completions have resulted in first downs. Last year, Wentz threw for just 60 first downs on third down the entire season. He had just three touchdown passes on third down as a rookie.

— The Eagles have seven rushing first downs in the first two games, but three of them are by Wentz. Their running backs have just four rushing first downs on 33 carries and are averaging just 3.1 yards per carry.

— Wentz has thrown multiple TD passes in back-to-back games for the first time since the third and fourth games of his rookie year.

— The Giants have a 100.0 opponent passer rating in their first two games. That's nearly 25 points higher than last year (75.8).

— Eagles opponents have completed just 7 of 16 passes for 76 yards on third down in the first two games. The Eagles have notched three of their eight quarterback sacks on third down (two by Fletcher Cox, one by Chris Long).

— Jim Schwartz has called 18 blitzes on 76 pass plays in the first two games (23.6%). The Eagles blitzed on 13 of 44 pass plays against Washington and on five of 32 against Kansas City. They probably won't blitz much Sunday against the Giants and Eli Manning. In two games against the Giants last season, Schwartz called just seven blitzes on 100 pass plays.

— Just two of the Eagles' eight sacks in the first two games have come on blitzes. Last year, nine of the Eagles' 34 sacks came on blitzes.

— The Eagles haven't given up a touchdown pass to a wide receiver yet. The two TDs they've given up have been to a tight end (Chiefs' Travis Kelce) and a running back (Redskins' Chris Thompson).

— Just 11 of the Eagles' 69 plays against the Chiefs were from under center. Against the Redskins, 27 of 65 plays were from under center.

— Zach Ertz and Nelson Agholor are tied for the team lead in third-down receptions. Both have four. All four of Ertz's third-down catches have resulted in first downs. Three of Agholor's four third-down catches have been for first downs.

— Wentz has attempted 15 passes of 20 yards or more in the first two games, including nine against Kansas City. He has completed just three, but had two dropped by wide receiver Torrey Smith last week. He is 14 for 19 on passes of 11 to 19 yards, 24 for 35 on passes of 0 to 10 yards, and 10 for 14 on throws behind the line of scrimmage.

— Eli Manning had a 74.2 passer rating in his two starts against the Eagles last year. He completed 60 of 99 passes, averaged just 6.2 yards per attempt, and had five touchdown passes but also five interceptions. The Eagles sacked him just once in the two games.

— Manning has made 26 career starts against the Eagles. The Giants are 10-16 in those 26 games. Manning has an 83.0 career regular-season passer rating against the Eagles. He's thrown 45 touchdown passes and 29 interceptions and been sacked 53 times. In his last eight starts against the Eagles, he has 11 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions.
