Phantoms drop Game 3 to Penguins

The Phantoms could not overcome a three-goal first period by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last night and fell to the Penguins, 3-2, in an AHL playoff game at the Wachovia Center.

The Penguins lead the Calder Cup's East Division finals, two games to one. Game 4 is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. tomorrow at the Wachovia Center.

The Penguins jumped ahead with two goals in 12 seconds midway through the first period on shots by Alain Nasreddine and Connor James.

With 2 minutes, 54 seconds left in the period, Alex Goligoski took a wrist shot from the left circle that wriggled out of Scott Munroe's glove and over the goal line for a 3-0 Wilkes-Barre lead.

The Phantoms finally broke through at the 7:58 mark of the third period: Stefan Ruzicka shoveled a backhander through traffic that found its way past goaltender John Curry to make it a 3-1 game.

Just 32 seconds later, Jon Kalinski controlled a puck off the boards and tucked it inside the left post to make it a 3-2 contest.

The Phantoms, however, could not muster the tying goal against Curry, who made 22 saves.

There are aliens in The X-Files: I Want to Believe, but they are not from outer space.

Instead, they come from Russia: a band of demented medicos, descended on West Virginia to participate in some freaky Frankenstein shenanigans - and that's too bad.

The film reunites David Duchovny with Gillian Anderson. It's been six years since the series signed off, 10 since the first film.
