Phantoms' Slaney gets to 500

John Slaney registered his 500th career AHL point last night, but the Phantoms lost a 4-3 overtime decision to the Norfolk Admirals at the Wachovia Spectrum.

Stefan Ruzicka scored two goals for the Phantoms (15-23-2-3). Slaney assisted on one of Ruzicka's goals for his milestone, becoming the first defenseman in the 71-year history of the league to reach 500 points.

The Admirals gained the win at 2 minutes, 33 seconds of overtime when Dustin Byfuglien scored.

Adam Burish, Carl Corazzini and David Boland also scored for Norfolk (31-10-4-1). Patrick Lalime made 37 saves to notch his third win in four games this season.

Pete Zingoni added a goal for the Phantoms. Goalie Martin Houle stopped 22 shots.

The Phantoms will return to action at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday with a home game against Hershey.
