Lowell sinks Phantoms late

LOWELL, Mass. - David Clarkson netted four goals as the Lowell Devils beat the Phantoms, 5-3, in the AHL last night at Tsongas Arena.

After Lowell jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the Phantoms tied it at 3-3 in the third period. The Devils won it with two goals in the final minute.

Ryan Murphy picked up a rebound at the bottom of the right circle and sent it to the front of the net. The puck caromed off Phantoms goaltender Martin Houle and went in for the game-winner with 58.8 seconds remaining.

Clarkson iced it with an empty-netter with one second remaining, becoming just the second player to score four goals in a game against the Phantoms.
