A dominant win in mixed doubles helped the Freedoms snap their six-match losing streak with an 18-15 victory Monday over the Washington Kastles at The Pavilion at Villanova.

The Freedoms (2-6) entered the final set trailing the Kastles (4-3), 15-13, with Marcelo Melo and Taylor Townsend being called upon for mixed doubles. The tandem dominated Washington's Anastasia Rodionova and Leander Paes, 5-1, to give the Freedoms their first victory since the season opener back on July 12.

The Freedoms got off to a rough start when Robby Ginepri suffered a 5-2 loss to Sam Querrey in men's singles. Townsend helped the Freedoms bounce back with a 5-1 win over Madison Brengle in women's singles.

Ginepri shook off his loss in men's singles to earn a win in men's doubles, as he teamed with Melo for a 5-4 victory over Querrey and Paes.

Townsend and Abigail Spears lost in women's doubles to Brengle and Rodionova, 5-1, which set up the Freedoms' dramatic comeback in the final set.

The Freedoms have a day off Tuesday, and will return to action at 7 p.m. Wednesday when they play the host Boston Lobsters.
