Freedoms defeat Boston Lobsters for second win in a row

Despite dropping the opening set, the Freedoms cruised to their second victory in a row, 24-14, over the Boston Lobsters on Wednesday night at the Manchester Athletic Club in Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.

For the Freedoms, the lone set loss came in mixed doubles when Marcelo Melo and Taylor Townsend fell to Boston's (4-5) Scott Lipsky and Arantxa Parra Santonja of Boston (4-5).

From there, the Freedoms took control. Townsend bounced back to defeat Irina Falconi, 5-0, in women's singles. Townsend later teamed with Abigail Spears to defeat Falconi and Santonja in women's doubles, 5-4.

Robby Ginepri edged Tim Smyczek in men's singles by 5-4 and then teamed with Melo in men's doubles to beat Lipsky and Smyczek.

The Freedoms will look to make it three straight victories at 7 p.m. Thursday when they host the undefeated Austin Aces (8-0) at The Pavilion at Villanova.
