THE TANEY Dragons, who made history and won hearts en route to the 2014 Little League World Series, were announced as the winners of the 2015 John Wanamaker Athletic Award.

Led by Mo'ne Davis, the first female pitcher to win a Little League World Series, Taney became the first Philadelphia team to win the Mid-Atlantic Little League Regional title. The Dragons' run ended two wins from the U.S. championship.

The team will be honored by the Philadelphia Sports Congress on June 12 during a luncheon at the Crystal Team Room.

The award has been bestowed since 1961 to the athlete, team or organization that has done the most to reflect credit upon Philadelphia and the team or sport in which they excel.
