Olympics: Opening ceremony
Posted on Sat, Feb 13, 2010
The Opening Ceremony was a colorful beginning Friday for the Vancouver 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia. The ceremony included several poignant references to Georgian luge athlete Nodar Kumaritashvili, who died Friday morning after crashing his sled during a high-speed training run at the Olympic Sliding Center in Whistler, British Columbia. IOC president Jacques Rogge said the death hours before the opening ceremony "clearly casts a shadow over these games."
