NFL week 2 preview: A quick look at all the games, plus what a Buccaneers star calls Nick Foles

(All games are Sunday, unless noted)

Eagles at Buccaneers, 1 p.m. (Fox29) – Six-time Pro Bowler Gerald McCoy has called Nick Foles "MVP" since the Eagles quarterback won the award at the 2013 Pro Bowl. "He always laughs when I call him that," said McCoy. Foles, the reigning Super Bowl MVP as well, needs 131 passing yards for 10,000 in his career. He'll be the 188th quarterback to reach that mark. He also has caught a pass in two consecutive games. Bucs wide receiver DeSean Jackson (shoulder, concussion) got in a limited practice on Thursday. Tampa Bay dropped 48 points on the Saints in Week 1 as Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for a career-best 417 yards.

Patriots at Jaguars, 4:25 p.m. (CBS3) – Jags star running back Leonard Fournette spent the week nursing a sore hamstring. The late-afternoon start is murder for fantasy lineups. Tom Brady is 8-0 against the Jags. His last visit to Jacksonville was 2012 when Chad Henne started for the Jaguars.

Giants at Cowboys, 8:20 p.m. (NBC10) – Odell Beckham has been held under 100 yards in five of six meetings against the Cowboys. The exception was in Nov. 23, 2014, when he made that ridiculous one-handed catch. Both teams need a win, but the Cowboys need one more since they're at home.

Chiefs at Steelers, 1 p.m. (CBS3) – Kansas City is coming off a huge divisional win at the Chargers.  Second-year quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the offensive savvy of head coach Andy Reid: "There's just some stuff that he does sometimes that you don't ever think of, and then you see it and you're like, 'That play is going to work.' And it works every single time." Pittsburgh is 15-2 in home openers at Heinz Field and 6-0 at home against the Chiefs since 1986. The Steelers had six turnovers in Sunday's ugly tie in Cleveland.

Vikings at Packers, 1 p.m. – Minnesota linebacker Anthony Barr broke Aaron Rodgers' collarbone last season when he landed on the quarterback. That play was the impetus for a rule change. Rodgers injured his knee on Sunday night and missed practice during the week. Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen has five sacks in his last six games against the Packers. Asked earlier in the week about Rodgers, Griffen said, "We know he's playing."

Panthers at Falcons,  1 p.m.: – Atlanta put two defensive starters (linebacker Deion Jones, safety Keanu Neal) on injured reserve this week, and running back Devonta Freeman is battling a knee injury. Meanwhile, Carolina will be without tight end Greg Olsen and possibly some offensive linemen.

Texans at Titans, 1 p.m. – It'll be two years on Tuesday since J.J. Watt will have had his last sack – unless he gets one on Sunday.

Chargers at Bills, 1 p.m. – Revenge game for Buffalo, which lost at the Chargers last season, 54-24.

Seahawks at Bears, Monday, 8:15 p.m. (ESPN) – Former Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks, awaiting sentencing for insider stock trading, might suit up for Seattle after joining them this week.

Colts at Redskins, 1 p.m. – Washington has never been 2-0 under Jay Gruden, who is in his fifth season.

Cardinals at Rams, 4:05 p.m. – Arizona gave up 182 rushing yards to Washington on Sunday. This week, the Cardinals get Todd Gurley.

Raiders at Broncos, 4:25 p.m. – Von Miller on the Raiders' trading Khalil Mack: "I was shocked. I always felt like Khalil and Aaron Donald were untradable guys. J.J. Watt, I thought guys like that were untradable. Then they traded him. A guy like Khalil, he only comes around once every lifetime. You want to keep guys like that."

Postgame headline: That's no skunk, Jon. That's your defense

Dolphins at Jets, 1 p.m. – Sam Darnold's first home game. The Jets scored one touchdown on special teams and two on defense in Monday night's rout of the Lions. They hadn't scored a defensive touchdown since 2013. The 73-game drought was the longest ever.

Browns at Saints, 1 p.m. – Coach Hue Jackson said Tyrod Taylor is Cleveland's starter and rookie Baker Mayfield will sit, no matter what Sam Darnold does in New York. Taylor, while with Buffalo last year, was awful in a 37-point loss to the Saints and was benched the following week. Drew Brees has 16 games of at least 400 yards passing, an NFL record and the equivalent of a full season.

Lions at 49ers, 4:05 p.m. – Jimmy Garoppolo used to be the scout team quarterback against the Patriots when current Lions coach Matt Patricia was New England's defensive coordinator. Detroit has lost 12 in a row in San Francisco, a streak that dates back to 1975 (when Joe Montana was a sophomore backup at Notre Dame).
