Jarrod Stukes' father, Dhaamin, has shared encouraging news on Facebook as his 18-year-old son, who played basketball at La Salle College High, recovers from gunshot wounds suffered late Sunday.

"My little warrior is up and putting in work," Dhaamin's post read.

He added that doctors want his son, who is now speaking, to sit up to put pressure on his leg.

"He told his mom [Leslie Green-Stukes] this morning, 'I don't care if it's 150 or 200 people today. I want to see everyone,' " Dhaamin's post continued. Stukes' official condition is unclear from the post.

Stukes, a 2017 graduate of La Salle, was wounded multiple times at a block party near 39th and Melon Streets. Three other men were also wounded. Police were still investigating the incident.

The 5-foot-8 Stukes was a tough and tenacious point guard in the Explorers program for four years. He committed to Clarion and was due to attend the school later this month.

His older brother Amar, also a La Salle grad (2013), is a standout guard for La Salle University. The eldest brother, Nadir, played at Engineering and Science (2011) and later Rosemont College.

Dhaamin Stukes expressed gratitude for the continued support the family has received.

"The love is real," Dhaamin's post concluded.
