Jorge Alfaro homers for IronPigs; Cornelius Randolph delivers for Threshers

Randolph tied it in 9th inning with a double and scored the winning run for the Threshers.

INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE (AAA)

Durham 5, Lehigh Valley 1: C Jorge Alfaro went 2-for-4 and hit his first home run in a month in the loss for the IronPigs (64-42).

It was the seventh homer of the season for Alfaro, who came into the night with three hits in 23 at-bats in his last six games.

RHP Ben Lively gave up three runs (two earned) in four innings to fall to 7-2.

DH Andrew Pullin (.238) had two doubles and 2B Scott Kingery (.286) singled twice.

Also, Brian Geiger, of Slatington, Pa., was randomly chosen as the six millionth fan in Lehigh Valley franchise history.
The IronPigs have drawn 6,004,406 since 2008 and average 8,935 per game, tops in the minor leagues.

EASTERN LEAGUE (AA)

Hartford 7, Reading 4: 3B Damek Tomscha hit his first homer of the season for the Fightins (55-48).

RHP Tommy Bergjans, a Haverford College product, gave up five earned runs, eight hits and three homers in three innings to fall to 1-4, 6.88 ERA.

FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE (A)

Clearwater 4, Daytona 3: LF Cornelius Randolph doubled in the tying run and scored the winner on 3B Derek Campbell's single as the Threshers (55-49) walked off with the win.

Randolph (.258) doubled twice and knocked in two runs and Campbell was 3-for-5 (.235) also with two RBI.

RHP Blake Quinn (4-2, 3.75) pitched three scoreless innings in relief for the victory.

SOUTH ATLANTIC LEAGUE (A)

Hickory 14, Lakewood 0: Rough night for RHP Felix Paulino, who gave up seven runs (all earned) in 1.1 innings as the BlueClaws fell to 14-20 in the SAL's second half.

NEW YORK-PENN LEAGUE (A)

Mahoning Valley 12, Williamsport 2: RF Jhailyn Ortiz (2-for-3 with a homer) was the lone bright spot for the Crosscutters (19-16)

GULF COAST LEAGUE (Rookie)

Phillies 2, Yankees West 1 (10 Inn.): RF Yahir Gurrola singled in pinch-runner Gunnar Buhner with the winning run for the Phils (17-10).

RHP Ramon Rosso pitched five scoreless innings in his GCL debut. He gave up one hit, one walk and struck out eight. RHP Oscar Marcelino (2-0, 0.56 ERA) pitched two hitless and scoreless innings for the win.

Gurrola, a 27th-round pick last month, was 2-for-3 on the day and is 7-for-12 over his last five games to improve his average from .260 to .322.
