Mine That Bird keeps running great races. And keeps needing a different jockey for his next race.

Mike Smith has a commitment on June 6 to ride Madeo in the Whittingham Stakes at Hollywood Park. So the Kentucky Derby winner and Preakness runner-up will need another rider for the Belmont Stakes.

It could even be Calvin Borel if Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra does not run in the Belmont. Borel, of course, rode Mine That Bird in the Derby and then chose to stay with the filly for the Preakness. Borel had been riding her all year and rode Mine That Bird only in the Derby.

Madeo is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained by John Shirrefs, the same group that gave Smith his Derby winner in 2005 on Giacomo and campaigns the unbeaten mare Zenyatta, another horse Smith rides. Smith gave them a commitment on Madeo before he got the Preakness mount on Mine That Bird. *
