Vick ordered to stay in PA, according to NBC

POSTED: Sunday, July 11, 2010, 11:37 AM

Michael Vick has been denied traveling privileges and is not allowed to leave the state of Pennsylvania, according to a report from NBC 10.

He has recently missed two scheduled appearances out of state, one in Baltimore and one in Atlanta, according to the report.

Vick's travel is at the discretion of his probation officer, as it has been since he was released from federal prison a year ago. The latest restriction could affect his ability to play for the Eagles. Vick could, however, be permitted to leave the state for work purposes.

The Eagles had no official response.

In regards to a Yahoo!Sports report that the option of cutting Vick is "absolutely" on the table, per a high-ranking Eagles source, the team maintained its stance that any "report or speculation that suggests the Eagles are considering releasing Vick are not true."

The story comes after one of Vick's co-defendants in his dog-fighting case was shot outside the quarterback's birthday party, June 25. Vick was not considered a suspect in the case, according to police. The local prosecutor has told reporters that Vick was involved in a "confrontation" before the incident but was not involved in the shooting.

An Eagles official has called the use of the word confrontation a "mischaracterization."

For all of you to feel the way you claim you do about Vick, you sure like to follow all articles and then take the time to post your comments. I guess Vick is the only person in Philly that is either on parole or probation, with the crime rate you have there I find that to be highly unlikely, you self righteous people need to quit. I just wonder how many posting have done probation or parole, or both.

Just get rid of ConVick now, and bring back Jeff Garcia for one more season? Jeff is still in amazing shape, for like 40 years old. Could be the Eagle's Jamie Moyer? Jeff has won where ever he has gone? Brought 3 teams to the playoffs:SF, Eagles and Tampa Bay. He still owns a record for QBing one of the best come backs in NFL history, when he brought the 49ers, back against the Giants several years ago.

Bob1, STFU. There are no Vick apologists; just people who aren't ready to lynch the guy based on speculation. I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in between the media reports and what some are speculating, which is why he's not being allowed out of the state. To me, that sounds like a call from his probation officer. Until he becomes a distraction on the field and to his teammates, he's here. Live with it.

It doesn't even matter what he did at this point. He has become a distraction to the team and must go!!! Life is not always fair. You had your shot and bad judgement should now be the end of your football career. Goodwell is going to suspend him.

Beegel I don't usually waste much time on people like you but foul language wasn't used in my comment, only criticism, and you crossed the line. The government officials in Va. beach already reported Vick as being in a violent confrontation with people outside the party and he's under investigation. You know, the one that was public, that was taking money at $50 a head. Where there was a shooting of his co-defendant that he's no supposed to be near. He's under suspicion of lying to investigators, the NFL and the Eagles. If you want to remain in bed with this waste and his impending legal meltdown, go ahead. But other people in this town don't have to "live with it".

The Eagles have been reduced to making semantic arguments to defend this chump. If the Birds are too proud to cut this guy, maybe the court can help them save face. Or is that a "mischaracterization"?

if he weren't a signed professional athlete, he would recidivate. he's had sufficient opportunity, under judicial protection, to do right and he has failed. what is more, i can't get over, how many resources (and how much!) the eagles are pouring into the relationship with vick. the guy is a fraud. i don't see anybody offering to take me by the hand and lead me through my life. infantile! that's what vick is. infantile and morally incontinent.
