Phils had 2nd best road record in all of baseball this year, so im thinking we win in game 5 at LA. I just hope the bats start/keep hitting. Really just Chase is doing poorly, with Howard right behind him. Well of course Ruiz too, when will Coste get a start???? GO PHILS!!!!!!!!

Todd are you over the Phils taking it to your Crew yet? You must want to shoot Sheets... Guy is soft and always hurt... cross him off Phils FA list...

4:35 start time is a joke. Even if they want the Red Sox in primetime, that game could start at 830 or 9pm and the Phils should start at 530 or 6. And what if the Angels come back and win? You could start their game 10 est.

I honestly can't imagine WHO is going to sign Sheets. He's going to ask for WAY more money than he's worth, and he's going to get a very rude awakening. I may not have much confidence in the Phillies front office, but there isn't any chance they'll sign Sheets at any price. They'd be absolutely crazy to.

Clinton, Coste had better not get a start. Did you see the pitching performances in the first round? Ruiz had a major part in that, and pitching is much more important than one (most times) hole in the lineup. Keep Ruiz starting, keep the pitchers happy, and BEAT LA! LET'S GO PHILS!

that friday is a bummer for me. stuck in the central time zone so the game starts 30 minutes before the work day is done.

Norma: Yeah, I called the Phils today and confirmed the same thing on thoe Game 3 tix. That is, Game 6 on the 17th. If we get there, I;ll buy you the beer.

Someone mentioned in the last post something I've been thinking about- flip-flop Myers and Hamels. Myers could pitch game one, game 4 on short rest and a game 7 on regular rest. With the day off between games 4 and 5 Hamels pitches game 2 then game 5 on regular rest. Moyer pitches game 3 and game 6, on regular rest. I know what Blanton did yesterday but I like the idea of the big three handling the load against LA. GO PHILS!!!

KMG, no thanks, I don't want Myers pitching 3 times. I'll take my chances with Cole in Game 1.

bobby...It's a date! LOL! *Talk* to you closer to game day. Maybe we won't even have to go to that game! Like I said earlier....If it's a deciding game, I'm going to be soooo stressed! I'll definitely need that beer! LOL!

Weird that there's a off-day between games 4 & 5 in LA. Must have been a scheduling conflict with FOX.
Posted by rich_gelman 12:50 AM, 10/07/2008
Well, Norma, there won't be an off-day if the Dodgers sweep us in 4.
Posted by jeff gross 02:34 AM, 10/07/2008
don't know why it's there, but it may hurt us. It means Myers pitching game 6 with 6 days rest COle pitching game 5 with 5 days rest. AFter teh AS break, Cole complained he had too much rest between starts. IF we make the WS, and clinch in game 5 or 6, we are looking at opening the WS with either Moyer or Blanton

There is no way on earth anyone but Cole Hamels starts Game 1. The rotation is going to stay the same. Norma, the off-day in between Game 4 and Game 5 is just a normal off-day. Nobody plays 3 straight days in the playoffs. It would normally be a travel day but since they changed the format for 7 games series to 2-3-2 for teams on opposite coasts, they just keep the off-day in there. I hate the 2-3-2 format by the way. We have homefield advantage but potentially have to play 3 straight games on the road? I've always thought that is just messed up to do that to teams with a homefield advantage.

The format for home field advantage should be 2-2-3. I heard Kruk say the Dodgers have the advantage in part BECAUSE of the format. How does that give the Phils home field advantage? It really means you have to win when you play at home, or else you lose the advantage. All the Dodgers have to do is win 1 of 2, then THEY have home field advantage for 3 = long enough to clinch.
