Penn State will begin this season in the USA Today coaches poll exactly where it ended last season.

The Nittany Lions are ranked eighth in the preseason poll released this morning and are the second of only two Big Ten teams in the Top 25. Ohio State is ranked sixth.

In what is no surprise, defending national champion Florida received 53 of 59 first-place votes and begins the season at the top of the poll.

Texas is ranked second and received four first-place votes. Oklahoma and USC were third and fourth, respectively, and received the other top votes.

The Southeastern Conference has five teams in the top 13, with Alabama at No. 5, LSU at No. 9, Ole Miss at No. 10 and Georgia at No. 13 joining Florida. The five teams in the Top 25 are the most of any conference.
