Flyers Notes: Betts dislocates shoulder again

SAN JOSE, Calif. - For the second time this season, Flyers center Blair Betts has suffered a dislocated right shoulder.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - For the second time this season, Flyers center Blair Betts has suffered a dislocated right shoulder.

Betts, one of the Flyers' top face-off men and penalty killers, was injured in the first period of last night's 3-1 loss to San Jose. He will miss about a month, general manager Paul Holmgren said.

Earlier this season, Betts was sidelined from Oct. 8 to Oct. 27; the Flyers were 2-4-1 in that stretch.

In another development, center/winger Darroll Powe suffered what Holmgren called a "significant" left-shoulder injury late in Friday's loss to San Jose.

Holmgren said the Flyers will find out today how long Powe will be sidelined.

The two injuries leave the Flyers needing a fourth-line center and perhaps another winger.

The Flyers figure to recall a center from the AHL's Phantoms. Among the candidates: Jon Kalinski, Jared Ross, Krys Kolanos, Jon Matsumoto, and Ryan Dingle.
