Friday's Pa. roundup: Sam Sessoms scores school-record 55 points, but Shipley falls to Perkiomen School

Binghamton University commit Sam Sessoms scored a school-record 55 points, but it wasn't enough as the Shipley boys' basketball team lost to Perkiomen School, 86-77, on Friday.

"55 points on my mom birthday..happy birthday mom," said Sessoms on his personal Twitter account.

Sessoms had 24 points in the fourth quarter and finished with eight three-pointers. He now has 1,850 points for his career.

Nick Guadarrama collected 22 points for Perkiomen School.

Matt McMahon recorded a four-point play with 30 seconds remaining to give La Salle a 50-47 win over Bishop McDevitt.

Seth Lundy scored 30 points and Lynn Greer III broke a tie game in the final seconds to lift Roman Catholic past Archbishop Carroll, 70-66.

Darius Kinnel notched 23 points and 10 assists as St. Joseph's Prep beat Southern, 84-63. Kyle Thompson ended with 19 points.

Eric Dixon scored 31 points but Abington fell to Westminster Academy, 82-80, in the consolation bracket of the Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament. The Ghosts started the tournament with a 91-83 loss to Findlay Prep of Nevada on Thursday.

Karee Davis-Combs' 28 points propelled Mastbaum past Prep Charter, 76-71.

Girls' Basketball

Anna Camden scored her 1,000th career point in the third quarter of Shipley's 46-32 victory over Peddie School. Camden ended with 13 points on Friday.

Artaya Poland made a layup with three seconds left to give Martin Luther King a 35-34 win over Frankford. Poland finished with 17 points.

Mandy McGurk recorded 25 points and four steals in Notre Dame's 50-32 win over Baldwin. Maggie Pina added 13 points and four steals.

Maddy Sorokanych paced a balanced attack with 11 points as Garnet Valley stayed perfect in Central League action with a 61-35 triumph over Ridley. Brianne Borcky and Emily McAteer each had 10 points.

Kiara Diaz filled the stat sheet with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four steals as Mastbaum held off Elverson, 49-34. Bionna Exum had 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

Ellie Benedict poured in 31 points to lead Palumbo past Engineering and Science, 48-43.

Charnese Smalls posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as KIPP DuBois defeated Esperanza, 34-32. Tamia Jones had seven points, 16 rebounds, and six blocks.

Westtown took down Friends' Central, 57-44, behind 25 points from JoJo Lacey. Halle Brown added 19 points for the victors.

Lauren Beck scored a career-high 23 points to lead Philadelphia Academy Charter past Freire Charter, 40-25.

Girls' Swimming

With an undefeated record and big win Friday over Notre Dame, Penn Charter won the outright Inter-Ac title. Penn Charter's Sally Foley broke the school and pool records in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.78.

Notre Dame's Mia Abruzzo broke a pool record in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:04.63.
