Monday's South Jersey roundup

Highlights from South Jersey high school sports on Monday.

Tori Hampton notched the game-winning goal in overtime Monday to lift the Cherokee girls' soccer team past visiting Shawnee, 3-2, in Olympic Conference play. Hampton scored in the final minute of the first overtime off an assist from Olivia McMillan.

Julia Hoagland and Julia Kasinski tallied a goal each to take a 2-1 lead in the first half. Jenna Mesisca scored a goal in each half for the Renegades.

Eastern got goals from Riley Tiernan and Madison Tyree to beat Cherry Hill East, 2-0, at home.

Amanda Attanasi, Giovanna Castorina, Dani Stuart, and Maddie Wernik scored a goal apiece as visiting Washington Township defeated Lenape, 4-0.

Katie Lillia scored twice to help St. Joseph top Salem, 2-1, on the road. Lauren Orton had the lone strike for Salem.

Mia Angelucci scored a pair of goals and Gabby Angelucci chipped in one to lead Cherry Hill West past host Timber Creek, 3-1. Logan Koester scored the only goal for Timber Creek.

Field Hockey

Katie Master scored both goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead Atlantic City to a hard-fought 2-1 win against Cedar Creek. Kaitlyn DeMaio opened the scoring with Cedar Creek's only goal in the first half.

Megan Berg notched the only goal of the game in the first half as Northern Burlington edged Florence, 1-0, in Burlington County League play.

Taylor Cooksey scored twice in Pennsville's 4-1 win against Paulsboro. Paige Dorsey and Mackenzie Rieger added a goal each in the victory.

Isabella Mancini, Toni Marmo, and Ashley Wetzel scored a goal apiece as Shawnee topped Cherokee, 3-1, at home. Gab Bodine had the lone strike for the Chiefs.

Triton got goals from Jessica Burke and Kim Whelan in the first half, and held off Gateway to win, 2-1, at home.

Boys’ Soccer

Vilbert Fortulus and Darrian Wittock scored two goals apiece to lead Winslow Township past host Paul VI, 5-1. The Eagles scored four of their goals in the second half. CJ Foster hit a volley to add a goal, his first of the season.

Carlos Negron scored for Cinnaminson and Brian Kuni tallied for Northern Burlington as the two squads played to a 1-1 draw in double overtime.

JC Johnson tallied a pair of goals to lead Rancocas Valley past visiting Pennsauken, 4-1. Rony Rivera and Keegan Teschko also scored for the Red Devils.

Ryan Cleveland and Bobby Labriola scored a goal each as Vineland blanked Lower Cape May, 2-0, in Cape-Atlantic League play.

Washington Township got goals from Vince Romano and Chad Yates as the Minutemen shut out Lenape, 2-0, at home.

Gymnastics

Ocean City topped host Cherokee, 88.050-87.775. Francesca Trimble of Ocean City won the all-around with a score of 33.975, and teammate Katie Hall took third at 29.800. Cherokee's Mackenzie Davis finished second at 30.450.

Trimble was the top scorer on vault, uneven bars, and balance beam. Davis won the floor exercise and earned third place on vault and balance beam.

Girls’ Volleyball

Cedar Creek fell to Atlantic County Institute of Technology, 25-12, 25-22. Angie Yarrow led the Red Hawks with 14 assists while Kimberly Countouris led the squad with 13 digs.

Northern Burlington beat Sterling, 25-17, 25-20. Lainey Burrough and Taylor Suto led the team defensively with 16 digs apiece. Burrough had 14 service points and Natalie Tripodi had 11 assists in the victory.
