Saturday's South Jersey football roundup: Woodrow Wilson in title game for first time since 2001

Woodrow Wilson advances to the South Group 3 title game for the first time since 2001 with a 46-25 triumph over Lakewood on Saturday. Myheem McCargo racked up 243 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. McCargo’s first score came from 56 yards out in the first quarter, and iced the game in the fourth with a 44-yard burst.

Nick Kargman connected with Jairo Ramos for two touchdowns through the air. Six of Kargman’s 10 completions found Ramos, who had 53 receiving yards. Woodrow Wilson tallied 431 yards of total offense and 22 first downs.

The Tigers will face upset-minded Delsea, who halted Timber Creek’s 25-game winning streak Friday, on Dec. 2.

Penns Grove 36, Gateway 0:

The Red Devils shut out the Gators in South Group 1 semifinals action. Semaj Moore had 16 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Both runs were scored in the third quarter, putting the game out of reach. Jamar Johnson contributed 56 yards and a 12-yard touchdown run.

Gateway came up empty on its first drive of the game, unable to punch the ball in from the 1-yard line. Penns Grove followed with a 12-play, 99-yard drive that concluded with a Tyreke Brown rushing touchdown. Brown scored another touchdown in the second quarter before leaving the game due to a leg injury.

The Red Devils will take on Paulsboro Dec. 2.

St. Joseph 64, Immaculata 26:

The Wildcats exploded for its highest output of the season in a decisive victory over the Spartans in Non-Public Group 2 semifinals action. Jada Byers’ third touchdown of the game gave St. Joseph an 18-point lead midway through the second quarter. The Wildcats took a 26-point lead into halftime. Nate Johnson added a score for the victors.

St. Joseph will square off against Mater Dei Dec. 3 for the title.
