Friday's S.J. football roundup: Vineland and St. Augustine pick up wins in rain-shortened schedule

Many South Jersey football games have been postponed to Saturday due thunderstorms taking over the area Friday night. In one of the games that avoided the storms, Anthony Arthur scored his first varsity touchdown on a 9-yard run as Vineland blanked Atlantic City, 21-0. Ryan Shelton and Nahzir Broome each scored on short-yardage touchdown runs.


Sincere Rhea and Joe Bonczek each returned a kickoff for touchdowns to lead No. 2 ranked St. Augustine over Lenape. 30-6. Isaiah Raikes and Corey Yeoman had a rushing touchdown apiece for the Hermits.

Brandon Lashley returned an interception 93-yards for a touchdown and caught a 15-yard score to lead Egg Harbor Township to a 25-6 victory over Ocean City. Lashley’s pick-six came midway through the third quarter that extended the Eagles’ lead to 19. Ian August accounted for two touchdowns that included the pass to Lashley and a 15-yard run.
