Thursday's South Jersey roundup: Eastern girls top Cherry Hill East in overtime

Highlights from Thursday's sports action in South Jersey.

The Eastern girls' basketball team came back from a 17-point deficit on Thursday against visiting Cherry Hill East to win in overtime, 49-45. The Vikings scored 28 points in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.

Gabriella Payne scored 16 points and Danielle Jackson added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Gianna Rullo tallied 6 points and chipped in 6 steals for Eastern.

Yanelli Villegas was the top scorer for Cherry Hill East with 15 points in the loss.

Jasmine Fitzpatrick poured in 37 points to lift Willingboro past visiting Pemberton, 64-48, at home. Devine Mulcahy scored 18 and Kaitlin Champion added 16 for the visitors in the losing effort.

Maddie McCracken led the way for visiting Wildwood as she scored 16 points in a 46-16 win against Clayton. McCracken also tallied 12 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals in the win. Michelle Lugo had 7 points and 6 steals for Wildwood.

Charlie Baldwin scored 19 points as Woodstown edged Deptford, 49-48. Katie Dailyda added 15 points for Woodstown in the Tri-County Conference win. Angelina Schilling had 12 points and 13 rebounds to lead Deptford while Leah Giles added 11 points.

Kylar Coughlin tallied 22 points to lift Gloucester past host Glassboro, 53-30. Chloe Bennett chipped in 10 points for the visitors.

Danielle Donoghue and Emma Finnegan combined for 23 points as host Ocean City topped Cedar Creek, 48-11. Donoghue also added 5 steals and 4 assists.
Ashanti Taylor had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 steals as Palmyra topped Maple Shade, 45-28, at home. Melisa Hawkins chipped in 4 points and 8 rebounds. Taylor Martin tallied 10 points for Maple Shade in the loss.

Hannah McHugh scored 21 points to lead Holy Cross to a 58-46 win against visiting Burlington City. McHugh contributed 8 rebounds, 4 steals, 4 assists and 4 blocks in the victory.

Boys’ Basketball

Dom Dunn hit the game-winning three-pointer with 0.9 seconds left in the game to give Camden Catholic a 48-45 win against Bishop Eustace. Dunn had 19 points for the Irish and Babatunde Ajike added another 10 in the victory.

DaVaughn Williams and Warren Bethea each scored 21 points as Camden County Tech rolled past Freedom Prep Charter, 84-38, at home. Zayre Kinslow chipped in 17 points for the Warriors.

Onye Okoro scored 17 points and Troy Edwards added 15 as Eastern held off Olympic Conference foe Cherry Hill East, 56-45. Sam Serata tallied 22 points for the Cougars in the defeat.

Alex Odom led Kingsway with 14 points in a 72-49 win against host Cumberland in Tri-County Conference action. Jaelin Keels added 12 and Jamir Patterson chipped in 11 for the Dragons.

Jody Johnson, Jeanquai Morton and Alex Stockton combined for 31 points as Riverside held off Florence, 49-43, on the road in Burlington County League action.
Miles Thompson scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds in Camden's 60-54 win against host Paul VI.

Stan Martin tallied 20 points to lead Westampton Tech to a 67-62 win against host Pennsauken in Burlington County League action. Manny Jeh chipped in 13 points and Laddis Taylor added 12.

Triton got 25 points from Jalen Collins as the Mustangs raced past Schalick, 71-46.
