GV jumped out to a lead at the 5 minute mark of the first half when Nick Paynter's long throw-in bounced into the 18 yard area through a tangle of players and Downingtown West keeper Josh Brian was not able to redirect over his goal. The game was suspended for lightning with 10 minutes remaining in the first half and after a 50 minute delay play was able to resume. Shortly after the restart Jack Halliday made it 2-0 for GV when he headed home a cross from Mark Williams. The 2nd half got under way but two minutes later the game officials saw lightning again and the game was concluded and GV had notched the 2-0 win. The win raised GV's record to 5-0 and 3-0 in the Ches-Mont. GV's head coach, Dave Moffett, reached a milestone, recording his 200th win at Great Valley. In his 17th season his record stands at 200 wins, 99 losses and 27 ties. Prior to leading GV he was the girls' varsity coach at Bishop Shanahan for 5 seasons and posted a record of 75-23-6.
