Football: Pennsauken, Lenape and Vineland teams to meet Jon Gruden

ESPN football analyst Jon Gruden will meet with local high school football coaches and players as part of promotional event tied to the Eagles’ Monday night football game.

Players and coaches from the Lenape, Pennsauken and Vineland high school football teams will meet with ESPN analyst Jon Gruden this weekend as part of a promotional event related to the Eagles’ Monday night home game against the Washington Redskins.

The meeting will take place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at PDQ restaurant in Cherry Hill.

Gruden, a Super Bowl-winning coach, will be in the area as part of the broadcast team for the Monday Night Football game in Lincoln Financial Field.

The respective programs’ head coaches — Tim McAneney of Lenape, Clint Tabb of Pennsauken and Dan Russo of Vineland — along with many of their players are expected to meet with Gruden and should “expect several surprises,” according to a press release.

“Youth sports numbers are going down and it’s important that we do everything we can to help as much as possible,” Gruden said in a statement. “Coach McAneney, Coach Russo and Coach Tabb are all doing great things at each of their schools and I look forward to meeting with them and their outstanding players.”
