Wednesday's Pa. roundup: Ziairah Grant becomes first player in Motivation school history to reach 1,000 points

Ziairah Grant scored a game-high 23 points Wednesday to become the first player in school history to surpass 1,000 points as the Motivation girls’ basketball team fell to Sankofa Freedom, 55-52.

Grant is getting looks from D-II, DIII, and junior colleges, and head coach Harold Alexander has seen his senior’s progression from her freshman year.

“She’s a great kid, she works, she goes to school, she plays basketball,” he said. “She’s the kind of kid you want to be around. My first year here was her first year here as well.”

Marayah Roher led the Warriors with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Zahrah Green also notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Alexis Lin led all scorers with 29 points in Central’s 43-33 triumph over Bodine.

Brianna Jones finished with 20 points as Frankford defeated Sayre, 36-32.

Anyia Holmes scored 10 points as Lincoln edged Math, Civics and Sciences, 31-29. Jaidah Peterson-Miller added nine points for the Railsplitters.

Bionna Exum posted a team-high 15 points, six rebounds, six steals, and three blocks to lead Mastbaum to a 33-28 win over West Philadelphia. Dezha Carr contributed eight points and eight assists for the Panthers.

Megan Bealer made five threes en route to Souderton’s 57-35 victory over Jenkintown. Megan Walbrandt and Alana Cardona added 14 and 13 points, respectively, for the Indians.

Zamara Hayes paced Imhotep Charter with 23 points in a 68-33 defeat of Engineering and Science. Jessica Charles and Alyssa Herder each had nine points for the Panthers.

Imani Harris scored 17 points as Northeast beat Science Leadership, 48-28. Cyanie Hull-Smith chipped in with 11 points for the Vikings.

Isabella Vazquez poured in 27 points to lead Washington past Martin Luther King, 61-39. Rhonda Bynum contributed 22 points for the Eagles.

Micah McCrea posted 22 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists to lead Paul Robeson past Masterman, 65-35. Aariona Harmon added 12 points for the Huskies.

Jesse Rivera made the game-winning layup with two seconds remaining to lift Central Bucks East over Wissahickon, 50-48. Kyle Cassidy led the Patriots with 18 points. Max Rapoport tallied a game-high 23 points for the Trojans.

Shawn Blank broke Council Rock South’s single-game scoring record with 31 points in a 70-64 victory over Sankofa Freedom. Christian Jabbar had 12 points and six assists for the Golden Hawks.
