Monday's Pa. roundup: Mount St. Joseph battles back to beat West Chester Rustin

The Mount St. Joseph girls' basketball team battled back from a 20-point deficit to beat West Chester Rustin, 52-47, for third place in District 1 Class 5A on Monday. The Magic outscored the Golden Knights by a 42-17 margin after falling behind 30-10 in the second quarter.

Mount St. Joseph will play Twin Valley at Upper Dublin in the first round of states on Saturday night. West Chester Rustin will face Lower Dauphin at Milton Hershey High School on Saturday afternoon.

The Christian Academy earned a spot in the state tournament with a 49-20 victory over Phil-Mont Christian. Lindsay Haseltine finished with 18 points in the District 1-12 Class 1A third-place game.

The Crusaders will battle Weatherly at Blue Mountain High School on Saturday.

Boys’ Basketball

Vincent Dangelo scored 18 points as Sun Valley defeated Holy Ghost Prep, 49-34, for fifth place in District 1 Class 5A. Shahir Brown-Morris and Marvin Freeman had 11 points apiece.

The Vanguards will play Northeastern at West York High School in the first round of states on Friday night. The Firebirds will battle William Penn at West York on Friday.
