Previewing Tuesday's state semifinals

A handful of local teams are still playing for a shot at a state title.

The dream of winning a state title is still alive for a handful of local teams as the PIAA state tournament enters the semifinal round on Tuesday.

Boys' Soccer

Conestoga vs. Central Bucks West: The Pioneers continue their quest for a second straight state title when they take on the Bucks in Class 4A action at Souderton Area High School at 7 p.m.

Conestoga, which beat Elizabethtown in last year's final, is coming off wins over Ephrata and Parkland. The Pioneers are led by forward Chris Donovan.

CB West needed penalty kicks to beat Cumberland Valley in Saturday's quarterfinals. The Bucks are playing in the state tournament for the first time since 1982.

Archbishop Wood vs. Northwestern Lehigh: The Vikings take on the Tigers in a Class 3A game at Upper Perkiomen High School at 7 p.m.

Coming off a District 12 title, Wood beat Manheim Central and Bishop Shanahan in the first two rounds of states.

Masterman vs. Camp Hill: The Blue Dragons face defending state champion Camp Hill in a Class 1A contest at Hamburg Area High School at 7 p.m.

Masterman is coming off victories over Moravian Academy and Wellsboro.

Girls' Soccer

Neshaminy vs. Owen J. Roberts: The Redskins will face the Wildcats in Class 4A action at Souderton at 5 p.m.

Neshaminy took down Owen J. Roberts earlier this month in the District 1 third-place game. The Redskins, who won the state title in 2013, defeated Governor Mifflin on Saturday. The Wildcats are coming off wins over Central Dauphin and Archbishop Ryan.

Villa Joseph Marie vs. Lower Dauphin: The Jems play the Falcons in a Class 3A contest at Hamburg at 5 p.m.

Villa Joseph Marie, which lost to Moon in last year's state final, is fresh off a win over East Pennsboro on Saturday.

St. Basil vs. Northwestern Lehigh: The Panthers will do battle with the Lions in a Class 2A contest at Upper Perkiomen at 5 p.m.

St. Basil is in the state semifinals for the first time in program history after defeating District 4 champion Midd-West on Saturday.

Field Hockey

Downingtown West vs. Emmaus: The Whippets will play the Green Hornets in Class 3A action at Exeter Township High School at 7 p.m.

Downingtown West is out for revenge after falling in overtime to Emmaus in last year's quarterfinals. The Whippets got past Lower Dauphin on Saturday to keep their season perfect at 25-0.

Villa Maria vs. Twin Valley: The Hurricanes will face the Raiders in a Class 2A game at Exeter at 5 p.m. Villa Maria lost to Twin Valley in the 2015 state final.

Girls' Volleyball

Bishop Shanahan vs. Parkland: The Eagles will face the Trojans in a Class 4A contest at Exeter at 7:30 p.m.

Ranked No.1 in the state, the unbeaten Eagles have won both of their state playoff matches in four sets. The Eagles defeated Nazareth (District 11) in the first round and Archbishop Carroll in the quarterfinals.

Garnet Valley vs. North Allegheny: The Jaguars will play the Tigers in Class 4A action at State College High School at 5 p.m.

Garnet Valley is coming off victories over Hempfield and Armstrong.
