Friday's Pa. football roundup: Imhotep Charter dominates Valley View to advance to Class 4A Semifinals

Imhotep Charter got off to a hot start Friday as the Panthers rolled over Valley View, 41-0, in the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals.

A 35-yard kickoff return and a 15-yard penalty set up the Panthers' first drive at the Cougars' 31-yard line. Jalen Sutton-Christian took the second play from scrimmage 16 yards for a touchdown just 25 seconds into the game.

Tykee Smith and Khadarius Sampson each rushed for first-half touchdowns. Sampson's score came from 69 yards out, giving Imhotep a 22-point lead. He added a 6-yard touchdown in the second half.

The Panthers claimed a 28-point halftime lead after Isheem Young took a short pass for 59 yards and a touchdown on the final play of the half.

Imhotep Charter piled up 279 rushing yards in the first half on 20 attempts.

Young's second touchdown of the night, a 63-yard run, gave the Panthers more than 500 yards of total offense.

Imhotep Charter will play Bethlehem Catholic in the next round.

Southern Columbia 45, Neumann-Goretti 12

The Saints fell to the Tigers in Class 2A quarterfinals action. Gaige Garcia took the opening kickoff 82 yards to put Southern Columbia in front early. Stone Hollenbach rushed for a touchdown and threw for another, a 58-yard strike to Julian Fleming. Hollenbach's rushing touchdown was set up by a defensive pass interference against the Saints on fourth down. The Tigers held a 24-0 lead at the half.

Neumann-Goretti marched down the field to score a touchdown, ending in a Charles Britt 8-yard run.

Garcia rushed for two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter after the Saints cut the deficit to 12.
