Last season, Bartram quarterback Mahmoud Dioubate had a season for the ages.

Now, the senior dual-threat QB hopes to lead the Braves to new heights in the Public League.

Last year, the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder became just the second player in city history to throw and rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season. Dioubate coupled 1,856 passing yards and 19 touchdowns with 1,284 rushing yards and 20 ground tallies.

West Catholic's Curtis Drake pioneered the achievement in 2008.

Dioubate also led the Braves to the National Division championship last season. And although the team lost to Imhotep, he also led Bartram to its first appearance in a Pub title game since 1987.

Bartram  coach Jim Chapman said the team returns a lot of speed in the backfield and at wide receiver.

Those attributes — along with another year of maturity for the already-savvy Dioubate — should make the Braves formidable.
