Lower Moreland lost only three games in the Bicentennial League Independence Division last season, and while they lost the regular-season title to Delco Christian, the Lions did win the postseason tournament.

This year, Lower Moreland appears to have the pieces to win the regular-season title. Last season's team played only six players consistently, and this year's squad has at least nine girls who will see regular court time.

Lower Moreland lost only guard Lasell Campbell to graduation. Senior Debbie Morgan returns and will be counted on once again to command the middle.

"She's so versatile, has a nice mid-range game that most girls in the league don't have," coach Rick Becker said. "She can step outside mid-range, then shoot or drive by her defender."

Defending Bicentennial Independence champion Delco Christian has large holes to fill, as its top three scorers from last season graduated.

To help ease the transition of new guards are senior frontcourt mates Jamie Barr and Victoria Eppright. To create more points, Delco Christian will play a more spread-out, up-tempo offense and press frequently on defense.

Defending Bicentennial Constitution champion Jenkintown's three returning starters include co-MVP of the division Emma Dorshimer, first-team all-league guard Ruby Westkaemper, and honorable-mention forward Madison Kremp.

The loss of four seniors, two of whom started, will cause coach Jim Romano to lean more on young players, including sophomore forwards Marrine McSherry and Lauren Shenk.

In the Del-Val League, Chester, the defending champion, welcomes back junior captain Camry Adams, a forward who averaged 8.6 points and was a presence down low last season. Interboro will look to junior guard Stacie Hallinan to continue her strong play from the end of last season, as the Bucs replace Olivia Encarnacion, who graduated. Academy Park lost 1,000-point scorer Jordan Matthews. Courtney Jenkins, a senior, likely will fill that void.

Reigning Penn-Jersey champion Girard College lost four starters, but senior small forward and Fordham signee G'Mrice Davis returns after leading the team to the District 1 Class A title last season.

Defending Tri-County League champion Perkiomen School returns all the key players from last season's team, which went undefeated in league play, won most of its games by 20 points or more, and captured the school's first girls' basketball title in 24 years.

Senior shooting guard Nicole Pupillo, a deadly three-point shooter, returns. The backbone of the defense returns in sophomore Kristen Burdo, who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds and rarely sat out last season.
