C.B. East pulls upset as District 1 boys' hoops playoffs begin

Cassidy scored all of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtimes of the District 1 Class 6A first-round matchup.

Elijah Seger had six points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots, who will play No. 2 seed Plymouth Whitemarsh at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

In other District 1 Class 6A first-round action, Noah Fennell and Terrell Jones had 16 points each in Lower Merion's 70-57 win over Central Bucks South.

The Aces will face Conestoga at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Noah Baker tallied 16 points to lift No. 9 Spring-Ford over No. 24 Avon Grove, 59-54.

Nestor Diaz and Ryan Fitzpatrick had 11 points apiece for the Rams, who will face No. 8 Cheltenham at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Pernell Ghee had 17 points as No. 11 Penn Wood held off a 26-point flurry from Chris Arcidiacono in a 59-51 win over No. 22 Neshaminy.

Arcidiacono finished with a game-high 26 points. Penn Wood will play No. 6 Pennsbury at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Austin Laughlin had 13 points in Garnet Valley's 49-45 win over Methacton. The Jaguars, the No. 16 seed, move on to top-seeded Perkiomen Valley at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree had a double-double as Neumann-Goretti beat Archbishop Carroll, 73-55, in the Catholic League quarterfinals.

Cosby-Roundtree finished with 22 points, 23 rebounds, two blocks, and two assists. Quade Green tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

The Saints advance to the semifinals against Roman Catholic at the Palestra at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

In other Catholic League playoff action, Collin Gillespie scored 21 points in Archbishop Wood's 65-43 win over Bonner-Prendergast.

Wood will play Archbishop Ryan at the Palestra at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
