Upper Dublin High graduate Michael Sowers was one of five Team USA players named to the all-world squad at the Federation of International Lacrosse men's under-19 World Championships, which ended with a U.S. title on Saturday.

Bill Leahy, the head coach at La Salle High and an assistant manager for Team USA, was the team's Graham Lester Spirit of Lacrosse Award recipient.

Faceoff specialist Christian Feliziani, of Episcopal, and midfielder Dox Aitken and defender Noah Lejman, both of Haverford School, also played on Team USA.

Sowers, an attack, was joined on the all-world team by teammates Jared Bernhardt (midfield), Patrick Foley (defense), Austin Henningsen (midfield) and Jack Rowlett (defense). The five helped lead the United States to its eighth consecutive title.

Sowers, set to attend Princeton, tied Alex Roesner as Team USA's leading scorer. He had 22 points on 11 goals and a team-high 11 assists. He had five goals and two assists in a round-robin victory over Australia and a goal and two assists in a 5-1 spurt by Team USA to open the second half of the gold-medal game victory over Canada. The Americans held on, 13-12.

Aitkin, set to play at Virginia, finished the six-game tournament with eight goals and one assist, and Feliziani, headed for Ohio State, won 33 of 47 face-offs. Lejman, along with three other team members, is to play next at Penn.
