The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder starred as a smooth-fielding shortstop, incredibly dangerous lefthanded hitter, and hard-throwing righthanded closer.

Jones was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the second round of Major League Baseball's amateur draft. He was the No. 55 overall pick.

Many publications had predicted that the talented senior would be snatched in the first round. "Cleveland is a great organization, so I'm happy," Jones said. "It's all good."

The Langhorne resident will have until July 15 to decide whether he wants to play at the University of Virginia or go straight to the professional ranks.

This season for the 14-6 Firebirds, Jones batted .636 with 26 runs, 24 RBIs, five home runs, five doubles, and two triples. He was walked a whopping 24 times.

"He's definitely one of a kind," Holy Ghost Prep first-year boss Vince Rossomando said. "He's got a great eye at the plate, a lot of power, knows how to work the count, and can hit to all fields."

Jones played in front of more than 40 major-league scouts in an 11-3 home romp over Bicentennial Athletic League rival Devon Prep on April 21. He took the mound in the seventh and, with his fastball reaching 93 mph on the radar gun, struck out the side.

An erstwhile hockey forward, Jones is projected to be a shortstop or third baseman at the next level.

The senior righthander and Western Kentucky recruit went 8-1 with a 0.54 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 641/3 innings. Ciocco had a 0.96 WHIP.

The Catholic League's most valuable player went 8-3 with a 1.48 ERA and 79 whiffs in 612/3 innings. Hammer, a senior righthander, is ticketed to Pittsburgh.

The junior righthander, who recently committed to play at Monmouth, was 8-0 with a 0.49 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 57 innings.

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound junior and Wake Forest recruit hit .360 with 27 RBIs and 35 walks. As a righthanded pitcher, Muntz went 4-1 with a 2.07 ERA.

The senior second baseman and North Carolina recruit batted .473 with 26 runs, 21 RBIs, four home runs, and three doubles. He had a .782 slugging percentage.

A poised senior shortstop and pitcher, Long sparked the Rams to the PIAA District 1 Class 4A title. The Monmouth recruit went 4-1 with a 1.17 ERA on the mound.

The senior middle infielder and Richmond recruit batted .553 for the Pioneers. On the hill, Miller went 3-3 with a 2.80 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 30 innings.

The senior leftfielder, who is bound for Philadelphia University, batted .320 in Inter-Ac League games. Also a righthanded pitcher, Hayes posted a 1.57 ERA.

The rising sophomore centerfielder hit .492 with 22 RBIs, 21 runs, five triples, two home runs, and two doubles. Siani has committed to play at Virginia.

The senior centerfielder's aggressive play was key in the Saints' drive to the PIAA Class 2A state crown. A West Chester recruit, he batted .378 with 19 runs and 16 stolen bases.

The senior first baseman, who came up huge in the playoffs, hit .507 with 21 runs, 17 RBIs, and nine doubles. Coppola will try to make Villanova's roster as a walk-on.

The senior, who is headed to Widener, was a stalwart shortstop and righthanded pitcher. Collings batted .450 with 16 RBIs and 15 runs. He was 6-2 on the mound.

The senior righthander and Lehigh recruit went 11-0 with a 1.42 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 64 innings. Doubling at shortstop, he batted .313 with 11 runs and eight walks.
