Episcopal girls thump ANC in softball playoffs

Episcopal Academy's offense carried the Churchwomen to the second seed in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association softball playoffs. Host Episcopal showed its might Monday in a 10-1 rout of seventh-seeded Academy of the New Church.

Ariana Felizianni keyed her team's offense by going 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. She scored two runs.

Maya Johnston went 2 for 2 with three RBIs for the winners.

Also in the first round of the PAISAA tournament, Ashley Lubisky went 2 for 3 and scored two runs as third-seeded host Springside Chestnut Hill shut out No. 6 Friends' Central, 5-0.

Baseball

Lincoln's Zach Degovanni knocked in the go-ahead run with a one-out sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the host Railsplitters a 4-3 victory over GAMP in the third round of the Public League playoffs.

Elsewhere in the Public League playoffs:

Nick Herrera struck out six batters in seven innings without allowing an earned run as host Edison defeated Esperanza, 8-2.

Edgardo Correa picked up three hits and host Franklin Towne Charter blanked Philadelphia Academy Charter, 6-0.

Freshman Russell Bolosov knocked in two runs including the decisive score as visiting Washington defeated Masterman, 8-2.

District 1 Class AAAA first round. Jared Morris went 3 for 3 with a home run and earned the win on the mound in 22nd-seeded Springfield Delco's 4-3 victory at No. 11 Conestoga. Losing pitcher Tim Miller homered for Conestoga.
