O'Hara's Arizin sets meet record at Catholic League championships

Junior Olivia Arizin of Cardinal O'Hara broke a 17-year-old meet record Saturday at the Catholic League Cross-Country Championships. Arizin finished the 3.1-mile Belmont Plateau course in 18 minutes, 32 seconds, breaking the mark of 18:36 set by Sheila Klick of Archbishop Prendergast in 1998.

Arizin finished the 3.1-mile Belmont Plateau course in 18 minutes, 32 seconds, breaking the mark of 18:36 set by Sheila Klick of Archbishop Prendergast in 1998.

O'Hara's Grace Mancini, Elizabeth Mancini, and Sara Hayes finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, to help the Lions win the Catholic League championship.

In the boys' race, Cardinal O'Hara's Rob Morro finished first in 16:22 to win the individual title. His teammate Ryan James was second in 16:30.

Eddie Goebel, Evan Addison, Stephen Paul and Frank Livolsi finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively to pace La Salle to the team crown.

Boys' Soccer

Preston Gordon scored two first-half goals, and Hill School held on to beat visiting Blair Academy, 3-2, in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League. Alieu Kenneh also scored.

Girls' Soccer

Kim Sanford and Shea Tomlinson each scored, and host Gwynedd Mercy defeated Nazareth Academy, 2-1, in a Catholic Academies League match.

Nonleague. Nicole Guidi and Violet Robinson recorded their first varsity goals, and host Hill School defeated Blair Academy, 5-0, in Mid-Atlantic Prep League play.
