Sat. Pa. boys and girls: Doughty sets Math, Civics & Sciences single-game scoring record

Doughty held the previous record of 45 points. The St. John's recruit broke the record on a one-handed layup with 5 minutes, 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Doughty had 21 points in the final period.

Coaches vs. Cancer. Lamarr Kimble scored 27 points as Neumann-Goretti defeated Susquehanna Township, 70-62, at Cheltenham. The game was a rematch of last year's PIAA Class AAA state championship, also won by the Saints. Zane Martin added 18 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for the Saints, ranked No. 3 in the preseason in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer.

Shawn Witherspoon had 14 points to lead La Salle to a 57-44 win over No. 7 Pennsbury. Witherspoon sparked an 18-6 run in the second quarter with three steals that resulted in fast breaks.

Bishop Walker Invitational. Devon Goodman scored 26 points as No. 8 Germantown Academy beat St. Mary's Ryken (Md.), 83-80, in triple overtime for the championship. Sam Lindgren had 23 points. Tournament MVP Tim Guers contributed 18 points.

Don McBride Classic. Tournament MVP James Fives had 22 points and eight rebounds as visiting Hill School topped No. 5 Haverford School, 75-66, in the final. Bryce Allen scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half.

Girls' Basketball

Maria Kilcullen dropped in the go-ahead layup as visiting Episcopal Academy edged No. 5 Archbishop Carroll, 44-42, in a nonleague game. Kilcullen finished with eight points. Elodie Furey scored 11 of her 18 points in the third quarter.

Noelle Powell scored 15 points as No. 8 West Chester Rustin won at home, 51-46, against Mount St. Joseph.

Beast of the East. Bailey Greenberg registered 17 points and 18 rebounds as No. 2 Archbishop Wood beat Poly High (Md.), 49-37, in Baltimore.

Wrestling

Idris White went 5-0 with five pins at 170 pounds as Father Judge went 4-1 in the Ghost Town Duals at Abington.

Tim McCall (106), Mike Metzger (113), and Trevor Elfvin (132) also went 5-0 for Father Judge.

Cross-Country

Hatboro-Horsham's Casey Comber finished 20th in the boys' Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships at Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif. The senior finished the 3.1-mile course in 15:49. Central Bucks East's Jake Brophy was 25th with a time of 15:58.

In the girls' race, Marissa Sheva, of Pennridge, took 25th in 18:31.
