Last season, Coatesville won its first nine games before losing to Downingtown West to finish the regular season and then losing a week later in the District 1 playoffs.

The same thing is not going to happen this year.

Like last year, Coatesville won its first nine games entering Friday night, but this time, the Red Raiders got to 10-0 after a wild fourth quarter left Coatesville with a 47-33 home win in a Ches-Mont League National matchup.

"We came in today with something to prove," Coatesville coach Matt Ortega said.

Coatesville, The Inquirer's fifth-ranked team in Southeastern Pennsylvania, took the lead for good in the final minute.

After the Red Raiders converted three fourth downs to continue their drive, Jay Stocker caught a 28-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Young, the eighth and final lead change of the game and fourth in the final quarter to give Coatesville a 40-33 lead.

Ahkema Evans iced the game with an interception return for a touchdown.

Young finished with two passing touchdowns and two rushing scores.

Coatesville went to the fourth quarter with a 26-21 lead, but Mike Riddick gave No. 20 Downingtown West a 27-26 advantage with a rushing touchdown.

Coatesville's Jalen Hudson responded with his own score, but Riddick scored his third touchdown of the game from 45 yards to put Downingtown West up, 33-32, with a little more than four minutes remaining.
