Sat. Pa. girls and boys: O'Hara sweeps Catholic meets
The Cardinal O'Hara girls' cross-country team easily won the Catholic League championship Saturday on the 3.1-mile course at Belmont Plateau, the 16th title for O'Hara since 1986.
The Cardinal O'Hara girls' cross-country team easily won the Catholic League championship Saturday on the 3.1-mile course at Belmont Plateau, the 16th title for O'Hara since 1986.
The Lions' Elizabeth Mancini won in 19 minutes, 35 seconds, followed by teammates Sara Hayes (19:41) and Olivia Arizin (19:51). Seven of the top 10 finishers hailed from O'Hara, which scored 15 points.
For the boys, brothers Kevin and Ryan James finished first and second in 16:22 and 16:30, respectively, and Rob Morro completed a top-three sweep for O'Hara in 16:41. O'Hara took the boys' title with 24 points.
Central League championships. Conestoga's Andrew Marston (16:09) and Killian Nelson (16:28) were the top boys' finishers at Rose Tree Park's 3.1-mile course.
For the girls, Strath Haven's Maia Mesyngier finished first in 19:11, followed by Conestoga's Annamarie Shultz in 19:12.
Conestoga took both the boys' and girls' titles.

John Geiger scored as Downingtown East topped host Shipley, ranked No. 7 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer, 1-0, in nonleague play.
Girls' Tennis
Villa Maria's Danielle Rufus and Reagan Hatcher defeated Delco Christian's Ellie Schmucker and Mel Yi Li, 6-0, 6-0, to win the District 1 Class AA doubles final at Legacy Tennis Center.
