Thurs. Pa. girls and boys: Spring-Ford repeats as champ

Thanks to Gabby Vagnozzi's back-to-back goals, the Spring-Ford girls' soccer players are back-to-back champs. Vagnozzi scored two goals before halftime, and the Rams went on to blank Pope John Paul II, 3-0, Thursday night at Owen J. Roberts to capture another Pioneer Athletic Conference crown.

Vagnozzi scored two goals before halftime, and the Rams went on to blank Pope John Paul II, 3-0, Thursday night at Owen J. Roberts to capture another Pioneer Athletic Conference crown.

Suburban One American. Rebecca Haber scored a second-half goal as Upper Dublin edged Springfield (Montco), 2-1, to capture a share of the league title.

Boys' Soccer

Taurean Lee scored with seven minutes remaining to secure a 2-1 victory for Owen J. Roberts over visiting Boyertown, in the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship game.

Football

Luis Graciani threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to send Kensington to a 14-8 nonleague victory over Dobbins at Simon Gratz.

Public AAAA Liberty. Kahssian Kay ran in a 2-yard QB sneak with 1 minute, 18 seconds remaining and then threw a two-point conversion pass to give Southern a 16-14 win over visiting Bartram.

Field Hockey

Mara Wrzesniewski and Kaitlyn Delaney scored second-half goals for Perkiomen Valley in a 2-0 win over Owen J. Roberts in the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship game at Phoenixville.

Ches-Mont. Nikki Freeman scored four goals for the second consecutive game as host Downingtown West won, 9-0, over West Chester Rustin to lock up the National Division title for the first time since 2010.

District 1 tournament. Unionville earned the top seed and a first-round bye for the Class AAA tournament, which will begin with first-round games Monday.

Villa Maria is the No. 1 seed for the AA tournament, which will begin Tuesday. (Full pairings in Scoreboard.)

Girls' Tennis

Archbishop Ryan's Julianne Herman won in straight sets to capture the Catholic League Class AAA championship at Little Flower.

Archbishop Carroll's Tess Ginn took home the AA title.

Cross-Country

Spring-Ford's Paul Power crossed in 16:10 to repeat as Pioneer Athletic Conference boys' champion on the 3.1-mile course at Heebner Park in Collegeville. Pottsgrove won the race with 62 points.

Owen J. Roberts (45 points) won the girls' race for the third year in a row. Perkiomen Valley's Annie Glodek won in 19:25.

Public League championships. Masterman runners took first in both races, and the Blue Dragons captured both the boys' and girls' titles on the 3.1-mile course at Belmont Plateau.

Julian Degroot-Lutzner (16:46.7) took first in the boys' race. Claudia Ashworth (20:07.6) won the girls' race.
