Delaware County got off to a fast start and held on to beat Inter-Ac Independents, 11-8, in the Carpenter Cup baseball quarterfinals Tuesday at Ashburn Field in South Philadelphia.
Garnet Valley's Ben Faso went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He had RBIs in each of the first two innings as Delaware County opened a 9-0 lead.
Seth Bower of Marple Newtown went 1 for 3 with two runs and an RBI.
Penncrest's Rob Brown earned his second win of the tournament by throwing three innings of one-hit ball. He struck out five and allowed one run.
For Inter-Ac Independents, Zach Kurtz of Penn Charter homered twice and drove in three runs. He was 2 for 3.
Delaware County will play Jersey Shore in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Thursday at Citizens Bank Park. In the other semifinal, at 9:30 a.m., Suburban One National/Bicentennial will face Burlington County.
Suburban One National/Bicentennial 13, Tri-Cape 9 - Jordan Pocrass of Lower Moreland hit a bases-clearing double to key a four-run sixth inning. Holy Ghost Prep's Colin Smeraglio had a two-run single. Kenny Murlock of Oakcrest went 3 for 3 for Tri-Cape.
Jersey Shore 13, Berks County 0 - Red Bank Catholic's Matt Kurdewan drove in three runs in the rout.
