Wed. Pa. boys and girls: Bonner-Prendie rebounds

It had been less than a week since the Bonner-Prendergast baseball team saw its 21-game winning streak in the Catholic League snapped, and it appeared the Friars were headed to another rare league loss Wednesday.

And then Danny Healey did what cleanup hitters are supposed to do. Healey clubbed his second home run of the game in the seventh inning to force extras, and Bonner-Prendergast went on to outslug host Lansdale Catholic, 10-8, in eight innings.

Jesse Basden's two-run, two-out shot in the eighth scored the go-ahead runs. Healey and Basden combined to go 4 for 9 and drive in seven runs.

Elsewhere in the Blue:

Archbishop Wood defeated West Catholic by forfeit. West Catholic will forfeit the rest of its games this season because of a player shortage.

Pat Doudican tripled and drove in four runs in Neumann-Goretti's 16-0 win at Bishop McDevitt. Ethan Pritchett struck out eight in four innings.

Justin Forktus and Bill Bonfig each had two hits to pace Conwell-Egan to a 3-2 victory at Archbishop Carroll.

Catholic Red. Sophomore Matt Rocchi earned his first league win in Archbishop Ryan's 6-2 victory over visiting Roman Catholic. Tom Derer went 2 for 2 and scored three runs.

Public A. Hector Morales, Johnny Arroyo, and Jeffrey Escolitico hit consecutive home runs in the first inning of Esperanza's 18-3 win over of visiting Masterman.

Softball

Ashley Moskowitz went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs to power Garnet Valley past host Ridley, 9-2, in the Central League. Reeva Alderman had two hits and three RBIs.

Ches-Mont National. Olivia Rogers struck out 13, and West Chester East downed visiting Bishop Shanahan, 3-1.

Ches-Mont American. Anna Steinmetz went 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs to lead West Chester Rustin to a 15-2 win at Oxford. Elana DiPrimio had three hits and knocked in four runs.
