Sat. Pa. boys and girls: Radnor outlasts Episcopal

Radnor's Will Girton traded in his catcher's mask for another hat Saturday afternoon: that of hero relief pitcher. Girton took the hill in the third inning and proceeded to strike out four, allowing two unearned runs over seven innings of relief in what would become a 7-5 nonleague baseball victory at Episcopal Academy.

Radnor took the lead with two outs in the top of the ninth when Mike Lanzone was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Connor Wilson. James Lofton added an insurance run by scoring on a wild pitch.

Girton, usually Radnor's backup catcher, was pressed into action because the Red Raiders needed to save their starters for a packed slate of coming league games.

"We kept saying, 'Are you OK? Are you OK?' after every inning," Radnor coach Mark Jordan said. "Every time, he said: 'Yeah, I'm fine.' "
