Mike Choi has stepped down as football coach at Great Valley after spending 10 seasons, including the last four as head coach, at the school.

Choi is leaving to take over at Pequea Valley, a Class AA school in Kinzers, Lancaster County.

"It's about 10 miles from my home," he said. "This will allow me more time to spend with my family and see my kids play sports."

Choi, 41, went 21-23 with Great Valley. Last season, the Patriots were 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the Ches-Mont League American Conference.

"He's done a great job moving our program forward," Great Valley athletic director Russ Wren said.

"We're sorry to see him go."

Choi, who has three young children, is a special-education teacher at Great Valley. He said a possible teaching position at Pequea Valley will be decided in the next few months.
