Derrick Jones scored seven straight points late in the fourth quarter to help Archbishop Carroll survive the second round of the Class AAA state boys' basketball playoffs with a 59-55 win vs. Abington Heights at Parkland.
Jones, who finished with 17 points, 10 boards, and 6 blocks, started his run after Carroll trailed for the first time all game, 52-49, with three minutes left.
Neumann-Goretti 73, Wilkes-Barre GAR 55: Tony Toplyn and Jamal Custis celebrated the warm weather with a block party at Bethlehem Freedom.
Toplyn swatted seven shots, and Custis rejected four.
Miami recruit Ja'Quan Newton scored 19 points to lead the Saints and move within 25 points of the Catholic League scoring record.

Math, Civics and Sciences 57, Sullivan County 39: Samir Doughty led nine MC&S scorers with 13 points at Parkland.
Doughty knocked down two three-pointers and had eight points in the first quarter. He also picked up five assists.
Penn State recruit Mike Watkins had 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Mighty Elephants.
Church Farm 56, Mahanoy Area 52: Tyler Ofray and Aondofa Anyam each had eight points to help Church Farm control the third quarter, 23-14, in the win at Central Dauphin East.
