Spotlight on Winslow Township's Masner Beauplan
Masner Beauplan knows his teammates are watching him.
"If I break down, the team will break down," Beauplan said. "I have to stay positive."
Beauplan, a senior guard at Winslow Township, is South Jersey's second-leading scorer with a 23.3-point average. He is a slick ball handler who can create his own shot and opportunities for others.
But according to Winslow Township coach Norm Ingram, Beauplan's best quality has been his leadership by example for the rest of the young team.
"But 'Mas' just keeps going and setting a positive example. He works as hard as any kid I've coached, and that sets an example for his teammates."
The 5-foot-9 Beauplan said he knew coming into this season that Winslow Township could struggle because of his team's lack of experience. He also believed the Eagles could get better over time.
He thinks that might be happening, even though Winslow Township's record is just 5-11 with three straight losses heading into Monday's home game with Millville.
Beauplan and Ingram think the Eagles could be a dark-horse contender in the wide-open South Jersey Group 3 tournament.
"We've had our ups and downs, but we're getting better," Beauplan said. "But if we get in the playoffs, I think we're going to play some good games. I think we're going to make a run."
