Rochester lifts Kennett over Chichester

Maalik Rochester scored eight of his 14 points in the fourth quarter and Kennett held off visiting Chichester, 58-55, Saturday in a nonleague boys' basketball game.

Rochester hit two three-pointers down the stretch to help seal the win.

In other nonleague play, Mike Louden scored three points in overtime and finished with 18 in Cardinal O'Hara's 50-43 victory at Haverford High.

Dan McClasky hit a three to force a first overtime and Unionville finally pulled away with a win after a second overtime, beating visiting Avon Grove, 54-47.

McClasky finished with 25 points.

Anthony Durham collected 23 points, seven assists, and six rebounds for Abington, which won, 71-49, at Spring-Ford.

Travis Smith had 26 points at halftime and finished with 31 for Academy Park, which beat visiting West Chester Rustin, 79-56.

Mike Brown scored 14 of his 23 points in the first half and Hatboro-Horsham won at Upper Moreland, 51-32.

Bob Barnett hit three of Interboro's nine threes in a 62-56 win at Downingtown East.

Kevin Raymond finished with 12 points and five assists for Central Bucks South, which beat visiting Pennsbury, 57-44.

Malvern Prep's senior manager Mike Ryan entered a game for the first time this year with 30 seconds left and scored at the buzzer in a 57-39 win against visiting Valley Forge.

Girls' Basketball

Kereece Seuren scored nine of her 15 in the fourth quarter for Christopher Dock, which hung on for a 38-36 nonleague victory at Springfield (Montco).

In other nonleague action, Nina Mazzarelli went for 24 points and West Chester East dropped host Strath Haven, 50-42.

Tyra Polite scored her 1,000th career point on a trey in the first quarter for Upper Darby, which won at Sun Valley, 47-28.

Polite needed seven points to reach the milestone and finished with 13.

Hatboro-Horsham snapped a 13-game losing streak with a 39-35 victory against visiting Upper Moreland behind Megan Penecale, who scored nine of her 11 points in the second half.

Maddy Ireland scored eight of her 11 points in the fourth quarter for Garnet Valley, which beat visiting Unionville, 37-29.

Kathleen Fitzpatrick posted 20 points and six rebounds in Notre Dame's 43-32 victory over visiting Gwynedd-Mercy.

Senior Christina O'Shea finished with 14 points and eight rebounds on senior day to lead Merion Mercy to a 48-33 victory against visiting Little Flower.

Central. Carly Hamilton tallied 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocks in Marple Newtown's 40-28 victory against visiting Lower Merion.

Ches-Mont National. Danielle DiSanto scored nine of her 14 points in the first half to lead host Great Valley to a 49-38 win over West Chester Henderson.

Catholic Academies. Sarah Madden finished with 11 points and seven assists in Villa Joseph Marie's 47-23 win against visiting Sacred Heart.
